COURSE METHODS, AND AVERAGE HOURS

Lectures: 10 hrs.
Details:

  • Fundamentals, Theory and basic principles of borehole images.
  • Types and specifications of borehole images i.e. resolution and coverage vs. borehole size.
  • Exposure to all the imaging logging tools so far in the industry.
  • Dipmeter and borehole image stratigraphic and structural interpretation.
  • Learn and practice log to core and log to seismic correlations
  • Learn borehole imaging technique in reservoir characterization, wellbore stability and geomechanics modeling.
  • Dip methods and dip computation.
  • Image display, quality control and interpretation work flow

    Workshop: 10 hrs.
    Details:
Image processing workflow and dip picking using software. Good quality borehole image will be used, as an excellent case studies, in which revealing most of geological features that can be seen on a borehole image i.e. Fractures, Faults, Bounding planes, Cross bedding, Breakout and Drilling Induced Fractures..etc.
During this part, attendees will learn:

    • How to process borehole image using software.
    • How to display static & dynamic images and the dip tracks.
    • How to perform interactive dip determination.
    • How to display dip in stereonet, histogram and rose diagram.
    • Introduction to advanced applications i.e. sand count, thin bed
      analysis.
