Abstract
The Nile, Nile Delta Regional Framework and the Mediterranean Sea, their tectonics and Their Geological history are considered the basis for understanding the exploration plays and consequently the upside potentials for hydrocarbons in the Nile Delta.
Through regional mapping of Cretaceous, Oligocene, Miocene and Pliocene, at both onshore and offshore Nile Delta, many lessons have been learned.
The time relation between the establishment of the north south river Nile and the older opened New Tethys and presence of the Old Euphrates sand machine have played a basic role in distributing the hydrocarbon reservoirs.
Many other plays are recorded as Cretaceous carbonate build up in Zohr discovery. The future exploration focusing accordingly should principally include deeper targets of Oligocene and Cretaceous plays where tremendous reserves are expected.
